Target has such great hidden gems to dig up if you're willing to invest some time looking through their collection. I found this dress several years ago. I love the casual tee shape and the gradient coloration. I've never seen a similar dress anywhere else, and that's a rare thing to say about a purchase from such a huge and inexpensive retailer.

I've partnered with Rocksbox and will be featuring items from them over the next three months. Rocksbox is basically a subscription based jewelry rental service. You give them $20 a month and they send you three piece sets of designer jewelry--each item is picked out based on a survey you fill out about what you like and don't like--and then you keep those items as long as you want and when you want another three you send them back. You can also buy the items if you want to keep them.

At first I was admittedly skeptical--after all, why pay for something that you won't get to keep?-- but after trying the service out I have to say that I really liked it. In general, I buy jewelry, wear it for a few months, then get tired of it and move on to the next piece. Over time, my jewelry box has accumulated quite a few items I don't wear very often anymore. I kind of like the idea that you can refresh your collection with Rocksbox without feeling bad about tossing an item aside. Also, using Rocksbox got me out of my comfort zone. They sent me a necklace that I'll be featuring next week that I never would have chosen for myself, but having it and trying to pair it with items in my closet led me to really like it and consider new jewelry options. And my last reason for liking it is simply that it can be hard to find good quality jewelry. Too often I buy items at a high price thinking they'll last only to find the gold flaking off or rhinestones falling out (ahem, Banana Republic). When you use a service like Rocksbox that worry is eliminated.
