Old Faithful

Remember that time I skipped New York Fashion Week for an aggressive tailgate + football game combo? That time is now.

New York Fashion Week begins today and instead of waiting in lines, wearing leather in 90 degree weather, skipping through the city in 6 inch heels, and surviving on champagne and adrenaline alone, I’m sitting this one out for the only thing that’s more important than fashion: Notre Dame Football. Don’t get it twisted, I’d kill to be in New York this week. But priorities must be prioritized. And this time, Brian Kelly and his merry band of Notre Dame Fighting Irish beat out crop tops and summery pastels. There will always be February which, as you know, is my most favorite of the fashion weeks. It’s socially acceptable to wear all the leather and faux fur I can pack in 7 suitcases and the designers are showing pieces from their Fall collections. That’s a win, win people.

You may recall, this is not the first time I’ve ditched fashion for football. No, no, my friends. In year’s past I’ve skipped out on dinners choosing instead to eat delivery cheesesteaks in bed and found ultimate Notre Dame fan, Regis Philbin, through a crowd of fashionistas in order to high five over our Irish. The difference this season is that I’m not actually in New York, irish goodbye-ing everyone to make it back to the tv in my hotel in time for kick off. Like I said. Priorities.

Needless to say, there will be no recaps of fashion week ongoings this season. To tide you over ’til Febraury, catch old rundowns here.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand: This off-the-shoulder delight. Last September, this little number was a part of my favorite fashion week look. It’s flowy enough to hide all the parts you want hidden but still on trend enough to make you look like you know what you’re doing. INTO IT. Also, a top that’s still a thing a year later? Absolutely one of the best purchases I’ve made. For a more casual night, I’d switch up the footwear to a flat, pointed toe boot and bring a leather jacket along for the ride.
