As I'm styling clients, I've noticed that even the most fit women with super active lifestyles have been shying away from this whole athleisure trend thing going on. When I think of athleisure, it's less about wearing your yoga clothes all day... because you know, life happens . For me, athleisure is about embracing the textiles and cuts of traditional workout wear and transitioning them to non-athletic environments. Intentionally, of course.
When I spotted these STELLA & JAMIE JOGGERS at a recent RETAIL POP-UP event, I practically had to beg women to try them on. The most common excuse I got from ladies avoiding the "sweatpants" was that their husband, boyfriend, significant other would totally be disappointed to see them out in these pants. They're not the skinny, sexy silhouette associated with date night and thus, not appealing to the opposite sex.
Obviously, I now have to prove a point: Athleisure, or in this case, cotton fitted joggers can be sexy. They can also be beyond comfortable. Hell, they're so comfortable I may have worn mine 3 out of 7 days last week! I'm not embarrassed... although, maybe I should be? With the right styling, these soft pants work for day (I love to pair mine with my ADIDAS STAN SMITHS or my KENNETH COLE LEOPARD SLIP ONS) and with a switch of shoes and outerwear, become edgy and sophisticated for night.
