Easy Breezy

As we probably all know by now, I react very negatively to heat. Summer weather? Beach days? Forget it. I’d rather have my boots-and-jacket weather. But of course it just so happened that this past week was pummeled by what felt like a summer heat wave – hot, humid, and downright uncomfortable.

And because of that, I’m beyond happy that the heat has slackened a bit enough for me to walk outside and not immediately want to hurl myself into a walk-in freezer with a tub of ice cream in hand (how am I going to survive this year’s summer?!). These images were shot a couple of weeks ago when it was pleasantly chilly and surprisingly windy. The fedora was more of an afterthought – I grabbed it at the last minute as I walked out the door that morning, thinking that I needed a little something extra to complete the day’s outfit, and it was a smart move! Even though I had to have one hand clamped onto the hat to avoid it from being swept away in the wind, my hair would have been treated to a blown-out style reminiscent of a large desert tumbleweed if I had gone without the fedora. Hats are amazing when it comes to hiding and preventing bad hair days, but they can also take your look to the next level. In this case, it certainly helped me achieve the proverbial two-bird-one-stone situation! Function with style… that’s always the goal!
