Alright. I have a confession to make. This is a maternity shirt… and I didn’t realize it until I went to link the product for this post. My mom always teases me that I won’t have to buy a new wardrobe once I’m pregnant since the majority of the tops and dresses I wear arebaggy flowy, but clearly my loose-fitted clothing obsession has gotten a little out of hand. I mean when I tried this top on I thought it was a little on the baggy side but my mind didn’t think maternity (it thought, “Sold!”). I guess I should have taken a hint when I was standing in the checkout line and saw the H&M Conscious tag read “MAMA”. Maternity or not, I am still ALL ABOUT this top. It’s from H&M’s Conscious collection and is actually 100% lyocell. It’s incredible the number of beautiful, eco-friendly pieces that are created nowadays. Not only is H&M taking steps to create a more sustainable future for fashion (that’s still wallet-friendly I might add) but big fashion designers like Stella McCartney are making waves in the high fashion world by not using leather or fur in any of her designs. She even goes as far as checking the suppliers where she gets her wool from to ensure the sheep did not go through any inhumane practices. I think this is incredible and that the way many of us see fashion is changing before our eyes. For so long fur coats have been associated with the rich and upper-class and something many women dreamed of owning, but now I believe so many of us are opening our eyes and realizing fur is not glamorous and that it is really cruelty.
