Whenever I think of shorts, connotations of sunny beach days and lazy summer weekends immediately spring to my mind. In short, these little garments remind me of home. However, I spend far more time in the office these days than I do anywhere else, so I have a not-so-secret preference of dresses over denim. It took a recent shopping trip back to good old JCPenney to realize that denim cut-offs are just as capable of being polished as they are of being casual.

This version from Joe Fresh truly fits the namesake. Unlike its counterparts that have been ripped and distressed to no end, these shorts let patches serve as the main event. I like to keep it simple with a linen shirt in a similar hue and cognac sandals for the perfect casual Friday look, but I’d love to channel Brigitte Bardot with my favorite striped sweater and loafers when the weather cools down.
