Hey loves, your SPAtacular Goddess here. I wanted to take a moment to share my natural style secrets with you. For the past 10 years, I’ve been defining my style. I’m attracted to Bohemian chic, but I have never been one to associate with “norm” of the season! But like the seasons, my style transformed and transitioned to my current (fashion)ating appeal and style. Not too long ago, I had a conversation with a co-worker. This woman, who is 70+ in age, grew up in the “old” school, and approaches style very minimally (not as hands on, nor does she enjoy getting glammed up). She doesn’t follow trends,in fact, she frowns upon some of the most popular styles. She does however, believe that “style” and even “beauty,” truly lies in the eyes of the beholder.
She says, “each woman has a right “enhance” her beauty.” Women have a right to wear false hair, eyelashes, nails — even pile on layers of makeup (foundation, blush, eyeshadow, etc), even if the shades that aren’t matched or mixed, perm, dye or apply other chemicals, wear contacts — whatever she chooses to use, to change her natural appearance. Now although I do agree with her on a woman’s right to feel beautiful, I don’t think that her description is a matter of “enhancement.”
To enhance means to intensify, increase, or further improve the quality, value, or extent of something. In my opinion, causing any change, like in perming, dyeing (or other chemicals) or anything that changes your appearance to the point of be unrecognizable (as you are naturally prior to any changes), is not “enhancing,” but rather “altering” (or revamping) which means to change or cause to change in character or composition, typically in a comparatively small but significant way. To enhance, is to accentuate what you already have. To enhance also requires a level of acceptance from within, in reference to your “natural” self. But, this is in my opinion, as the latter isn’t wrong, nor am I judging; just simply defining my style.
My fascination is rooted in the “au naturale” aspect of style. I enjoy making chic beauty cocktails, performing organic, chemical-free beauty experiments, fresh out of my kitchen. I love shopping fair trade clothing, 100% organic cotton, cruelty-free — anything where it’s a win-win situation, which protects all involved, even the environment! I prefer earthtone, bronze and gold palettes to adorn my face, dark brown and deep burgundy shades for my lips, naturally groomed and styled lashes and zero foundation or blush. I opt-in for various shades of beauty, which happen to resonate with my mood at the time. I love to accentuate my eyes and lips.
I enjoy using “preventative,” safe (proven) and gentle beauty ingredients that are healthy for my skin, hair and body; like Shea butter, Argan oil, lemons, acai, pomegranate (and other fruits) — that are free of parabens, petroleum, mineral oils, etc. I turn my daily regimens into SPAtacular moments. So you could image how amazingly impressed I was with Seventh Generation Boosts Soothing Serum. It’s loaded with oat extract and Argan oil, minus any parabens or chemicals and is cruelty-free. I used for 3 weeks, applying twice daily after washing my face and toning with All Natural Dickson’s Witch Hazel. I pumped 1-2 drops with my daily facial moisturizer (am/pm). My facial lines and creases flattened out, leaving my face/neck smooth, bright, clear and even toned. It helped ease the sunburn that I have been recovering from. I highly recommend this gentle serum, which “enhanced” my natural style.
