In order to build the perfect effortless look, you have to start with clean, healthy skin. Seventh Generation is now making it much easier with their new skin serums. Scroll down to the bottom for some natural style secrets and more pics!
I was fortunate enough to receive a Seventh Generation Skin Serum to use in my natural beauty routine. They offer six different formulas, for different skin types, and I received the soothing one, which calms and relieves skin while improving tone and texture. This serum has Oat, Argan & Zi Cao, among other beneficial all-natural ingredients, to calm problem skin and balance uneven skin tone. It is not oily or greasy if you use it properly. It’s very safe and can even be used on gentle skin, such as around the eyes. This smells sorta plant-ish/flowery, but the smell quickly fades, so if you aren’t a fan, it goes away in about 15 seconds.
What You Need to Know about Seventh Generation
Seventh Generation is offering a new line of concentrated all-natural skin boosting serums. These pure, plant-based serums are free of harsh preservatives and contain no fillers, absorb quickly, are hypoallergenic, are free of parabens, phthalates, and synthetic fragrances, and won’t clog pores.
Directions
The first couple of times I used it, it felt great but looked oily under my makeup. Then I realized, you have to apply only one drop to a wet face, not two drops to a dryish/dampish face. After you wash your face, leave it as damp as possible, apply one drop of serum and let it dry. Once it’s fully dry, apply your moisturizer.
Here are Seventh Generation’s instructions: 1) Moisten face and apply 1 to 2 pumps to fingertips, and massage into damp skin. 2) Mix 1 to 2 pumps in your hand with any lotion or cleanser and massage into skin. 3)Try adding a couple drops of your Boost to your facial moisturizer or use directly on your skin.
Then What?
You can easily layer your normal lotion, BB cream, foundation etc. over this serum. It really did make my face feel better prepared for makeup or lotion. I had to create a look that was perfect in any weather because I was going out on a hot day with rain in the forecast. Here are my tips:
1. Let your hair do it’s thing. I just sprayed some sea salt spray into my damp hair. It was too frizzy, so I quickly pinned it up on both sides.
2. Have a light hand with the makeup. The whole trick to natural style and beauty is to look like you are wearing as little makeup as possible. You want to look like you “aren’t wearing any” without looking like you just rolled out of bed. Here are the easiest ways to do that:
- Use BB cream. This can provide the same types of results as foundation, but with a more natural look.
- Use white eyeliner on the inner eyelids and black eyeliner on the top eyelid. This will give you a wide awake look, without looking too harsh (which black eyeliner can do).
- Focus on the eyebrows. This is key to looking natural…gotta have lovely brows.
- Keep your lips color-free or natural looking. This is one coat of my current favorite lip crayon. After this wiped away, I just left my natural lips with a little lip balm. Red lips won’t sell the natural look.
3. Find your favorite outfit and accessorize. My favorite part of any outfit is the accessories. Shoes, jewelry, purses, scarves, phone cases, nailpolish…these are all affordable ways to spice up your favorite outfits!
4. Be prepared for anything. I always have an umbrella, blotting sheets, an eyelash curler, a small brush, and lip balm in my purse for emergencies. Good thing with this fickle NYC weather.
Get Your Own Serum
Each serum is designed to work with your skin and offers a powerful combination of pure active botanicals. You can purchase any of these serums at Walgreens for $14.99. That is SUPER affordable for an all-natural serum with all of these beneficial oils and plant-based materials in it. Plus, since you really only need about one drop of this at a time (and there are about 295 pumps in the bottle), this bottle will really go a long way.
